THE ROLE OF A VOLUNTARY CARER Providing care to patients in their home is a very expensive service as we need to employ qualified medical staff to deal with the treatment of patients. To supplement this aspect of the service we need dedicated volunteers to carry out the non-medical aspects. This involves forming a bond between the volunteer, the patient and the patient's family. Coping with cancer is not just about the physical distress that it can cause but also the very real emotional and sometimes spiritual aspects. As a carer you will be able to help the patient and also his or her family to cope with those pressures. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and would like to know more please contact Rachel Meadows.

All volunteers will be required to attend a training course. Those courses will be implemented once we have sufficient volunteers to justify the cost. |
